Lisa Denyer’s practice explores the polarities of a slow, considered painting process set against the speed and sensory perceptions of daily life.

Her work examines paintings that relate to bodily forms, inhabited spaces, and visual encounters experienced routinely. The artist investigates how such impressions are retained, processed, and recalled over time.

The creation method involves cutting paper shapes in ways that blend both deliberate planning and reflective thinking. She incorporates geometric shapes alongside expressive brushwork, experimenting across diverse materials: plywood, clay, fabric, wood panels, and abrasive surfaces. Material selection emphasizes textural properties and how they either facilitate or resist paint application, reflecting an underlying creative tension between purposeful direction and instinctive response.
